"LEMS" Last Legal Cartoons

Being six portraits in colours depicting His Honour Judge Parry and five leading members of the local bar from original drawings by The late Mr. Lemuel J. Pierce. Published by George Falkner and Sons, Deansgate press.

George Falkner and Sons, also known as the Deansgate Press, was a firm of printers founded in Manchester in 1843. From 1873 to 1941, their main printworks was at 170, Deansgate, Manchester. By the 1890s, they also had offices in London and Liverpool. During the First World War, they designed and printed recruiting posters and Christmas cards for the British forces.

The folio is not dated but the six prints are taken from original work dated 1902. The cover of the folio is showing its age but the prints themselves are in good condition showing some creasing and dirt to the edges. Research has not found the origins of the originals but they are in the style of Spy or Kapp.
